RECYCLING CENTER
COLUMBUS, GA

The site for the annual Auburn University School of Architecture Concrete Competition was located in Columbus, GA, on the banks of the Chattahoochee River. Our program called for a recycling center to be located on the river, which was to include private industrial space, offices, and space for the general public.

The recycling process was an important element the design of this building, because the building must facilitate recycling in the most efficient way. This proposal features a large, private industrial space on the ground level in which the recycling process takes place. Each end of this space is equipped with loading docks for the delivery and pick-up of recyclable materials. The second level is public, and contains administrative offices as well as a learning center/gallery space that overlooks the Chattahoochee River.
